Daily Dispatch

Daily Dispatch Introduction

Hey! This blog has been an idea I’ve had for the best part of a year, but like many of us, I procrastinated for quite some time on the topics I ‘should’ write about and eventually talked myself out of it. Two core concepts changed my mind:

1. ‘Daily Dispatch’ by Austin Kleon from his best selling book ‘Show your work.’

The concept of the daily dispatch is simple. Once a day, after you’ve done your day’s work, go back to your documentation and find one little piece of your process that you can share.

My take from reading the whole book is scanning through everything creative I did that day and finding an idea or just something cool I learned that I’d like to save for later. I’m writing the blog entries that I’d want to read, not creating content to gain traffic which leads me to my next point.

2. ‘Document, don’t create’ from Gary Vaynerchuk.

I interpret this as documenting my process of being a content creator/music producer rather than creating the perfect material to grow my online brand. I’ve never been much good at the later as social media isn’t somewhere I spend a whole lot of my time.

“Overnight success is a myth. Dig into almost every overnight success story and you’ll find about a decade’s worth of hard work and perseverance. Building a substantial body of work takes a long time-a lifetime, really-but thankfully, you don’t need that time all in one big chunk. So forget about decades, forget about years, and forget about months. Focus on days. “

A few more thoughts:

What running theme will I base each entry around?

My thoughts and ideas for the creative artist.

Can this blog be read and applied to any creative field?

Of course! There just will be specifics for music producers as we speak the same language, as well as it being what I spend the majority of my time doing.

How should I interpret this blog?

As my public notebook for cool creative stuff.
